Initial idea's:
Make coins from salt
Salt used to be valuable
referred to as white gold
used as salary/payment
The amount of salt in the ground is overloading the ecosystem. We used to mine more salt, so, in response the ecosystem produced more. Mow there is a surplus. By using the salt as payment we will find a new use for it, therefore the mining will go up again, removing the pressure on the ecosystem as a result.

F.A.Q

Why a local coin and not a global coin?
We believe the globalisation process is getting out of control. We should look back at our own neighbourhood instead of our own continent. Connect more with our own living spaces. If you are connected more with your own living spaces, there can be a higher amount of self regulation. By scaling down

What is the value of a coin?
The value of a coin depends on the weight its made of and how many coins there are in circulation.

How does the coin grow in value?
Like with our own bodies and everything in nature you should take good care of your salty coin. The salty coin grows in value when people are not taking good care of it consequently it will fade away.

How does the coin go down in value?
If all the owners take good care of their coin and the minimal amount is fading away, there can be an overload of coins which consequently makes the inflation higher.

How does the coin work?
Stimulans aan de locale economy. The money stays within the local community. Human skill back. A tiny circular economy within your own neighbourhood.

Who makes the coins?
You can make your own coins, but be aware, talk to your local community because only by working together you can keep the value high. Like in nature everything is connected so working individually is not a good idea: if your whole community makes the coins on an individual level the value will only go down due to inflation.

Is there a watermark on the coins?
Every local community can make its own watermark.
Salty Coin

How do we solve the overload of salt on the one hand and enhance economic growth on the other?

Nowadays because of the excessive mining it depletes the ecosystem. Because of this the ecosystem starts producing more salt. There is a new balance between mining and salt production. However, due to global warming less salt is needed to counteract ice and snow. What to do with the overload of salt?

Salty Coin is the solution for both the overload of salt and as an critical note towards the current payment systems. Payment systems are an important building block of the economic and financial system however seen the crisis they are also vulnerable as is the same for our salty coins.

Payment systems were originally founded for the exchange of services and goods. However, with the evolution of technology, money and payments have changed drastically. Current financial technology make financial transactions possible at almost any time and virtually any place.

But is this alway the good way? And do we still keep in mind the impact on the environment? We believe also payment systems should consider good and equal transaction for both human as well as the environmental impact. This is not a linear approach, where more can always be more. With Salt Coin we believe in an circular approach where the coin can diminishes if not been taken good care of which is also the case with our own bodies and everything else in nature. Value does not need to be hold onto forever, like nothing is forever in this ever changing world.

Salty Coin represents those who cannot talk. The now undervalued world of flora and fauna. We humans like individual ownership and value, thus why not combine this with the overload of salt and being an owner over your own tiny salt mine? But be aware, take good care of your salty coins because they can fade away if not looking after well. With Salty Coin we give the power back to the eco system.
